It is always good to receive positive feedback and appreciation for the work that we do in our care homes and last week we were thrilled to read in the letters page of ‘The Blackmore Vale Newspaper’ these very kind words written by the daughter of one of our Residents who sadly passed away just recently at The Cedars.
“I have lived in Shaftesbury for 30 years and on many occasions walked past Castle Hill House and The Cedars with no idea of the wonderful care these homes provide.
My father, after 4 years of dementia, went to live at Castle Hill House. We were apprehensive at first and feeling very guilty that we could not care for him at home any longer, but the level of 24 hour care he received and the welcome and support my mother and I were given was superb.
As his condition worsened he needed more nursing care and was transferred to The Cedars. Wrapped up warmly, taken in a wheelchair through the town that he liked so much, on a sunny day and given a ground floor room close to the sitting room where he settled in well.
On Monday 26th February my dear father passed away. The ‘end of life’ care he received was so respectful and full of kindness. As a family we were given the same.
In a small town we are blessed to have these nursing homes for our community.
If you see a poster for a coffee morning at Castle Hill House or The Cedars please pop in and support these wonderful homes.”
