What an absolutely beautiful wedding it was, so special in every possible way. The sun was shining, the bride was stunning, the groom so handsome and they were obviously very much in love. Windsor Castle echoed with sounds of the Kingdom Gospel Singers and the angelic voices of the St George’s Chapel Choir. It was an emotional day too. Everyone aware of the absence of Meghan’s father who was too unwell to attend and of course Harry’s mother, the much beloved, Diana the Princess of Wales. But Diana’s friends in the congregation and all the little touches in her memory including her favourite flowers in the archways and bouquets and her favourite hymn made her very much a part of this magical day. The spectacular image of the newlyweds in their open carriage drawn by fabulous horses passing through the cheering crowds will be a sight etched on our memories for years to come.
At Cedars Castle Hill, we marked this wonderful occasion with picnics at both of our homes. Our Residents and staff dressed up in fancy hats and finery and played games and enjoyed the sunshine in our gardens.
At Castle Hill House some of our residents helped to decorate a wedding cake with icing sugar flowers and ribbon. They also enjoyed a delicious spread (pictured below) and a good helping of strawberries and cream whilst watching the ceremony.
Down at Cedars the residents helped make the flags, decorations and bunting which along with their gorgeous hats, beautiful flower basket bouquets, a strawberry gateau, ‘Pin the Tiara on the Princess Game’ and a mock cake cutting ceremony all made their afternoon truly unique.
A big thank you to our cooks, Wendy and Val, for the delicious food and also to the Activities Team for organising such a wonderful day for our residents. It was a truly special occasion, a memory to be treasured by everyone involved.
Many Congratulations to Harry and Meghan!
