Shaftesbury in Bloom is a small group of volunteers who have a love of flowers and floral displays. They keep the town looking attractive throughout all four seasons by planting up flower beds and supplying many dozens of hanging baskets, wooden barrels and wheelbarrows. They are grateful when local shops and businesses sponsor the containers and take some responsibility for their care and watering.
There is an annual competition for keen, green fingered locals to enter, with a number of different categories, including one for gardens at residential homes. I am delighted but not surprised to say that the garden at Castle Hill House was looking particularly attractive and was awarded 2nd place and the garden at The Cedars was very much admired and was awarded 3rd place. Congratulations and thanks to Nigel for all his effort and enthusiasm in these two gardens.
