There was a lovely feeling in the air at Cedars Castle Hill last Friday as residents and staff celebrated 75 years since the end of WW2. Our Homes were decorated with bunting and flags. Some of which our residents had created themselves.
The televisions were on and the rooms were filled with the strains of ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and ‘There’ll be Blue Birds over the White Cliffs of Dover’. It was a beautiful sunny day and we took advantage of the warmth and the fresh air outside in the gardens.
There were games and dancing, streamers and flag waving and in the afternoon everyone enjoyed a special tea with cakes decorated in red white and blue and some toasted the day with a glass of wine or two.
There were moments of sadness as we remembered the fallen but mostly it was a day to celebrate peace and freedom and to mark this amazing victory with joy, fun and laughter.
