On Friday morning Cedars Nursing Home was buzzing with activity as the staff prepared for the Festival. The weather was not looking very promising for the afternoon festivities and the decision was made to hold it inside instead of in the garden.
The Activities Team worked determinedly to create a festive atmosphere by erecting a mocktail bar, a hot dog stand and an ice cream parlour. By 2.30pm the lounge was transformed, with staff and the residents wearing flowers in their hair in true festival fashion.
As the rain poured down outside everyone enjoyed hot dogs, ice creams and mocktails. The children had their faces painted and fished for ducks, winning a prize every time. They also tried to guess the name of a gorgeous pink unicorn. Her name was ‘Candy’ and was guessed correctly by one very lucky little girl.
The Tombola was very popular and the Big Prize Raffle was a huge success and the winner walked away with £38 of donated scratch cards.
Despite the weather the team managed to raise funds which will provide the residents with more entertainment, activities and outings.
