A few thoughts from our Chair, Sara Jacson:
It feels like a long time since we made those New Year Resolutions. As the days lengthen and we get ever busier we sometimes forget the promises we made in the darker days of winter.
So we are wondering could you spare a little time to volunteer at Cedars Castle Hill and add more variety to our residents’ lives? They really appreciate meeting different people who spend time with them, chatting, playing games, reading the newspaper or simply just listening. We can guarantee that you’ll feel the benefit too.
At Cedars Castle Hill we encourage our residents to be as active as possible. Some of them are volunteering to help others in our homes. Library duties are good fun and not too onerous for Dennis and Derek, but now others want to do the same. If not the library, going out for a cup of coffee, or shopping or just go outside.
It is not possible for us to have sufficient staff to take everyone out and about all the time. We are very conscious of the need for all our residents to be safe and staffing levels are vitally important.
You as a volunteer will be given training, be able to have flexible volunteering hours and be part of an important team in our homes. Contact us on 01747 852860 ext 2215 and chat to Fiona – she’ll be delighted to hear from you!
