Ever mindful of the changing needs of our elderly population in Shaftesbury where you are not considered old until you have at least achieved your 80th birthday, Cedars Castle Hill has developed a new Day Care Service open to all, especially carers and their families.
The Mayor of Shaftesbury, Cllr John Lewer, opened the new service in the presence of Simon Hoare MP, Trustees and local residents as well as staff. He spoke of the very high level of care he knew Cedars Castle Hill gives and commended this development.
Toasts were drunk, delicious nibbles eaten, much networking done and the new Day Care Service was launched.
Being a carer is non-stop!. And when is there time to have your hair cut, to have coffee with a friend, to simply enjoy a stroll along Park Walk taking in the spectacular scenery? A rare treat, but now achievable with the superb care at Castle Hill House.
The Day Service room leads out into a sheltered tranquil garden with various seats and viewpoints. A raised central bed has rosemary and roses cascading over the sides for the enjoyment of those in wheelchairs and all paths come back to the room. Often, there is a rabbit on the lawn and birdsong especially in the morning.
There are specialist Activities Staff to make the time enjoyable with a great choice of activities, delicious home cooked food at lunch time and companionship with no effort.
We are registered with the CQC for this service which costs just £25 per session and includes lunch. Sessions run daily from Monday to Friday at the moment: mornings 10 until 1.00, afternoons 1.30 until 4.30.
