Fees For Care

Fees for care – 1st April 2018

We provide two types of care at Cedars Castle Hill: Residential and Nursing.

As Cedars Castle Hill is a registered charity and operates as not-for-profit we charge only what it costs to provide the high quality care that our residents deserve, with no profit margin.

Castle Hill House Fees from 1st April 2018

Weekly residential fee £825.00

The Cedars Fees from 1st April 2018

Standard weekly fee £850.00 + FNC 158.16 = £1008.16.

Premium room fees £993.70 + FNC 158.16 = £1,151.86 per week

Respite (minimum period of 1 week) £1,400

CHC and palliative care fee starting from £1,150.00 per week

All residents are assessed for eligibility for Funded Nursing Care (FNC), which is currently £158.16 per week at the basic rate and £213.32 at the higher rate for those assessed prior to 1st October 2007.  FNC is applied for by us and received from the NHS directly to us to pay for the nursing care element at The Cedars.

We ask that one month’s fees are paid in advance and a standing order set up to pay the fees on the 1st of the month. We regret that we cannot send out individual invoices except in exceptional circumstances.

Sources of funding


Currently if you have assets worth over £23,250, you will be expected to pay for your care home fees. We are advised that new residents should have at least 2 years’ funding before they move in. However, in practical terms we are here to help everyone and our residents are admitted on a needs basis not a financial one. If a resident runs out of money they can apply for funding from Social Services who will make an assessment and decide on their eligibility.

Social Services

Dorset County Council will fund eligible residents at both Castle Hill House and The Cedars subject to financial assessment. There is a Service User element of the care fees which the resident has to pay from their state benefits/pensions.

S117 Funding

There is a special funding stream under the Mental Health Care Act and usually applies when the resident has been discharged from hospital and has a pre-existing mental health condition.

Continuing Health Care (CHC)

CHC is Continuing Health Care, arranged and funded by the NHS for those with a primary healthcare need. CHC needs to be applied for and an assessment made as to the suitability of a resident for this. Our Home Manager is able to advise you if there is a possibility of getting this funding. Only residents with nursing needs are considered for this funding.

Personal Expenses

Each resident has a personal expenses ledger account for items and services, such as:

  • Toiletries
  • Chiropody
  • Hairdressing
  • Newspapers

We ask that an amount of £25.00 per month is added to the monthly standing order to cover a resident’s personal expenses which can be adjusted up or down as necessary.
