Kitchen Assistant

The Role of a Kitchen Assistant includes;

  • Prepare staff sandwiches
  • Collect breakfast trolleys
  • Process all washing up
  • Prepare  coffee trolleys
  • Fill up biscuit containers neatly
  • Wash up coffee trolleys
  • Ensure all hot drinks containers are replenished
  • Prepare residents sandwiches for supper
  • Prepare trolleys for lunch and take to dining room and top floor
  • Assist cook with hot trolley to locations where it is required
  • Put away any deliveries which have arrived
  • Process all lunchtime washing up
  • Clean trolleys
  • Clean all kitchen surfaces, sweep and mop floor ( ensure wet floor signs are in position)
  • Empty rubbish bins and recycling bin
  • Help with food ordering, where necessary
  • Complete kitchen cleaning signature schedule

Cook

The Role of a Cook includes;

  • To supervise other kitchen staff and work as part of an effective team
  • To cook lunch for up to 61 residents and up to 5 day care, taking into account the varying diets, following the daily menu’s
  • To order meat, vegetables and stores on a regular basis and to use food rotation
  • To prepare suppers where possible or needed
  • To make and cook cakes for afternoon tea
  • To maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen
  • To ensure that food and hygiene certificates are always current
  • To complete kitchen audit book at the end of the shift
  • To leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state

Full/Part Time Registered Nurse

Cedars Castle Hill is a 31 bedded nursing home with a lively atmosphere where we support residents with a variety of nursing needs. Part Time & Full Time Day /Night Care Assistants.

We are looking for compassionate individuals who want to help our residents lead happy and healthy lives.

The Role of a Care Assistant includes;

  • Assisting residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet.
  • To help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; maintain continence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  • To care for the residents who are temporarily sick.
  • Help care for residents who are at the end of life and dying, in accordance with their wishes.
  • Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
  • Make and change beds, tidy rooms and do light cleaning, empty commodes.
  • Set tables and trays; serve meals; feed residents who need help; prepare light meals and wash up; tidy and clear dining room.
  • Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone, greet visitors.
  • Maintain a neat and tidy appearance.
  • Read and write reports; take part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as directed.

All posts offer flexible working can be full/part time/bank or job share day/night shifts available.

Our shift time are: 8am – 2pm, 2pm – 9pm and 9pm – 8am.

Competitive rates are dependent on experience.

Hotel Services

Required Skills:

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work to a daily pattern
  • Complete daily cleaning schedules
  • Maintain a neat, tidy and clean appearance
  • Work in a quiet and orderly manner
  • Ensure a safe environment for staff and residents whilst performing tasks
  • Awareness of residents’ privacy and possible limitation of mobility
  • Report any matters of concern to the person in charge
  • On completion of shift, return all equipment to its original place, tidy cupboards and lock where necessary as per COSSH Regulations
  • To be aware of where the COSHH safety data sheets and risk assessments are kept and to have read  them being aware of when new ones are added
  • To attend all training courses as and when required
  • To attend regular staff meetings with other members of the House Services team

Tasks:

  • To work as per the daily cleaning schedules
  • To ensure that the home is kept clean and tidy to the highest standards
  • To ensure that deep cleaning of bedrooms takes place as per schedule
  • To ensure when a room is vacated that it is deep cleaned in liaison with the maintenance team regarding their programme of work
  • Liaise with the Nurse / Team Leader on duty to see if any specific issues to be aware of
  • To ensure a monthly stock take is taken and an order given to the House Services Manager for cleaning items

 

Life Skills Support

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills :

  • To work across both homes, Castle Hill House and The Cedars Nursing Home.
  • Proven ability to implement a range of activities for residents in both homes.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to work on own initiative when needed.
  • Friendly, creative and confident.
  • Genuine interest in working with the relevant resident group.
  • Satisfactory Police Check against the POVA/ISA List.
  • Flexible approach towards working routine.
  • Able to work alternative weekends and any Bank Holidays as required

Desired:

  • Previous experience of working with the relevant resident group and knowledge of Dementia.
  • Qualification in remedial/occupational therapies.
  • Experience in risk management

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Activities:

  • Help residents to socialise within the home, and provide a variety of opportunities to maintain life skills
  • Follow the monthly calendar of group activities that are resident led.
  • Complete room visits & 1:1 risk managed life skill opportunities
  • Be aware of individual residents assessed risks
  • Encourage care and other staff members, relatives and friends, to participate in the activities.
  • Accompany residents, where possible, to off-site activities, which may occasionally take place outside normal working hours.
  • Help to create an atmosphere that suits individual residents within the homes.
  • Assist with fundraising for entertainments, materials and outings.
  • Maintain full and accurate records of daily activities using appropriate documentation.
  • Assist the named carer/key worker to review and update resident care files.
  • Work as directed, with external specialists in the rehabilitation of individual residents as needed
