At Cedars Castle Hill we understand how important pets can be to our residents. We know that sometimes they have had to leave behind a beloved dog or cat which may once have been their only constant companion. This can be a terrible wrench for them and in order to make them feel that Cedars Castle Hill is a real home from home we have resident cats at both of our homes
Poppy lives at The Cedars and Smudge at Castle Hill House.
As well as regular visits from’ Pat Dogs’ we encourage visitors to bring in their well behaved pets for our residents to make a fuss of. We know how therapeutic stroking an animal can be and our residents really respond to these visits.
One of our residents, who recently came to live at The Cedars, brought her Budgie in to live with her and this made a difficult transition a lot easier for her to manage.
A tiny ‘Jug’ (Jack Russell and Pug cross) popped in to see Molly one of our lovely residents last week and we even had a visit from a pet baby hedgehog belonging to the daughter of Val our cook!
Every month or so we invite The ‘Sharandy Birds of Prey’ to entertain with their beautiful Owls. The residents love to see these stunning creatures up close they are invited to stroke their feathers and then they are treated to a spectacular aerial display.
Just recently we were lucky enough to have a companion mechanical cat donated. She’s fluffy, she purrs, she meows, she moves her head, paws and tail and looks extremely realistic. Our residents love her and know that she won’t leap off their laps when she gets bored!
We do our best to give our residents the things that they miss from their previous lives and hope that this brings a little joy to their time spent living with us.
