So now that Christmas is out of the way and the New Year’s celebrations are over it is time to look forward to spring and the start of new beginnings.
When it is cold and sunny or even if it is grey and drab, as long as it is dry we try to get as many residents as we can outside in the fresh air.
It can get quite claustraphobic over the winter months, closeted within four walls, so as soon as the sun shines or the weather is milder out come the coats, scarves and hats and off we go. Be that walking in the garden or a trip into town for coffee and cake or a visit to the shops and the library.
We like to go up to Gold Hill to enjoy the view over Blackmore Vale or sit for a while just watching the world go by. Sometimes we walk down from Castle Hill House to The Cedars to chat with other residents and staff, have a cup of tea or join in with activities.
It makes such a difference to their well-being. They return home refreshed and envigorated, happy to share stories with friends, family and members of staff.
Variety is the spice of life and we do our best to add a bit of flavour to as many of our residents’ lives as we can.
