With the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle fast approaching I got to thinking about weddings in general. My own, my family’s, friends and others that I have attended.
For many people their wedding day is the happiest day of their lives. The dress, the flowers, the guests, the champagne, the tears and laughter and two people who adore each other promising to love and cherish one another for ever.
Just recently one of our lovely residents down at The Cedars allowed us to display her beautiful wedding dress on our mannequin. We also hung her wedding photograph on the dining room wall and her wedding album was also on display. She was certainly a very elegant and slender bride! This lovely lady married her husband in 1951 her two caring daughters have been visiting her very regularly during the 3 years that she has been living at The Cedars. It is with their kind permission that I am able to share this memory with you now.
We try to encourage our residents to remember happy events in their lives and to make them know that we appreciate how important these memories are to them. For many, their early memories are very precious. Everyone loves to reminisce, but not everyone has somebody to share these moments with. That is what we try to do at Cedars Castle Hill, as well as the excellent nursing care that we provide we are here to hold their hand and listen and to celebrate the wonderful moments of their lives with them. It is the least that we can do to make their time with us as happy as it can possibly be.
At both of our homes we are making arrangements to celebrate the Royal Wedding in style. The walls of our Homes are already bedecked with crowns, flags and bunting which have been fashioned by our talented residents and staff out of card and buttons and bows. We are asking for donations of both male and female wedding hats because staff and residents will be sporting these on the day and will be dressed in their best bib and tucker. We are having an indoor picnic with a royal theme (outside if it is nice) while we watch the wedding on the TV. I will be writing about this later with lots of lovely photographs of the day to share with you all.
