In October we welcomed a young person (TJ) to do work experience with us. We always like to encourage young people into the caring profession. Below is her review of her time spent with us.
“I am writing to thank you for the week that I spent at Cedars Nursing Home for work experience in October. I thoroughly enjoyed my week with you and I felt welcomed by both the staff and the residents.
Thank you again for such an enjoyable week which made me realise the hard work that the carers put in and how much this benefits and helps the residents.
I had no previous experience of elderly people or dementia. Firstly I was made very welcome by all the staff. They were always interacting with the residents giving a very homely atmosphere.
My main joy was being involved with the residents and this made me realise how much they have to give. They always became alive when outside people came in to do activities.
My favourite part of the week was a conversation that I had with one of the residents about his job on the farm and the small things that he loved to do in his younger years. He talked to me about his family and even gave me some advice for the future.
My overall experience was one of happiness.”
